The Story behind Gracie’s Flight of Faith

Thirty-four years ago, I heard a whisper in my heart.

“Your life is like a butterfly.”

At the time, I didn’t understand what it meant.

Life wasn’t easy. I knew brokenness. I knew fear. I knew seasons where I felt hidden, unseen, and unsure of who I was becoming.

But God knew. He could see what I could not.

Just as a caterpillar cannot see the beauty waiting inside the cocoon, I couldn’t see the story He was writing with my life.

Years passed.

There were victories and struggles. There were moments of great joy and moments that brought me to my knees. Through it all, God remained faithful.

Then one day, more than three decades after that whisper, He whispered into my heart.

“Do you think the butterfly could see outside the cocoon?”

The answer was no. The butterfly couldn’t see what was waiting. It simply had to trust the One who created it.

That question became the seed of a story. A little butterfly named Gracie was born.

Gracie’s Flight of Faith is more than a children’s book. It is a picture of the journey many of us take with God. We don’t always understand where He is leading us. We can’t always see beyond today’s circumstances. Yet He gently calls us to trust Him one step at a time.

Since Gracie was released, she has fluttered into hearts around the world. Children, parents, grandparents, and readers from many nations have joined her journey.

Every message, every photo, every review reminds me that God is able to do far more than we can imagine.

The little whisper from thirty-four years ago became a book.

The book became a message.

And the message is simple:

You may not see beyond the cocoon today, but God does.
